When should you scan your cows?

As a guide, you can work on scanning your cows and heifers one month after joining is over. However, there is a very wide range of options available depending on what you are trying to achieve with the scanning job and you can determine your exact needs by contacting Doug.

1. Identify (ID) pregnant/empty (P/E) status;
We will also:
a. ID pregnancies outside the chosen joining period.
b. ID abnormal pregnancies.
First cow $55.00 then $3.50/cow
2. Identify (P/E) status;
We will also include category 1 service
a. Age pregnancies into joining/calving mobs.
b. ID all cows calving after a specified date.
First cow $65.00 then $3.60/cow
3. Identify (P/E) status;
We will also include category 1 & 2 services
a. Age (in days) every foetus.
b. ID AI & ET pregnancies versus backup pregnancies.
First cow $75.00 then $3.70/cow

Specialised scanning operations;
We will also include category 1, 2 & 3 services
a. Gender determination.
b. Fertility EBVs for studs.
c. Herd "fertility" scan; for each naturally joined cow & heifer, we provide the days/weeks from start of joining to conception.
Rate negotiated with client.
  1. We supply all power needs. Extra men can be supplied, at cost based on Pastoral Award rates.
  2. Quotes are available on request When the work conducted varies from job requested there might be small variations to the invoiced charge. Where this occurs the variation will be noted in the invoice.
  3. A travel charge might apply under 150 cows to be scanned and or over 300 km one way.
  4. A base charge of $220 might apply where the number of cows to be scanned are 50 or less.

Vendor Declaration

If you utilise the services of ALSS to scan your cows/heifers, you will, on request, be provided with a vendor declaration statement that can be used in association with any intended sales of your cattle. The vendor declaration is a very thorough document, provides a great amount of detail, has been in widespread use for private sales, in sale yards, in the sale ring and with AuctionsPlus and has been widely accepted for the 20 plus years that ALSS has been in operation.
